Learners will hear from child trauma survivor Ann Kenneth as she recounts her experience of losing her mother to breast cancer at age 14. Ann's life would take a drastic turn of events where she fell into depression, alcohol abuse and later giving her first child up for adoption. Ann's story is full of pain and resilience in her struggle to find her purpose and overcome this great loss.
Learners will hear from LCSW Abby Young of Tupelo, MS about child grief, what's normal and abnormal and how grief plays out in various settings, such as school and at home. And how to help childron work through their grief.
LMSW Hollie Jeffery will discuss how to prepare children for this diagnosis and how things will change in their homes and roles.
Hollie will also discuss the spiritual wounds that can occur when children lose their parents or when well meaning family and friends try to comfort children. Addressing these wounds is vital in helping children thrive.
